Camera, power and app details

Front and rear cameras

The front camera records in 4K and the rear camera records in 1080P. The front unit mounts on the windshield and the rear unit on the rear window. Both cameras run from one power cable.

Parking mode

Parking mode records when it detects motion or an impact. The unit has an automatic low-voltage cutoff, and it uses a supercapacitor for power storage rather than a lithium battery.

The companion app connects over WiFi. You can browse locked event files, change settings and download clips to your phone. Footage carries GPS location, time and speed data.

Event file locking

The G-sensor flags sudden impacts and hard braking as event files. Flagged files are locked, so loop recording does not overwrite them. Loop recording replaces the oldest unlocked footage.

The camera sets up its own WiFi connection. You open the VisionGuard Pro app, connect to it, and the app lists recorded clips and locked event files. The settings menu is in the same app.

The box holds the 4K front dash cam, the 1080P rear camera, a car charger power cable and a user manual. A memory card is not listed, so you supply your own microSD card.

Parking mode starts a recording when the camera detects motion or an impact while the car is parked. An automatic low-voltage cutoff is built in to manage how much power the camera draws.

A supercapacitor stores the power the camera needs to close a file when the car is shut off. It takes the place of a lithium battery in this model.

The G-sensor senses sudden impacts and hard braking. It marks the current recording as an event file and locks it, so loop recording does not delete or overwrite it.

Mount it on the windshield, close to the rearview mirror, where it sits out of your line of sight. Rules on windshield placement differ by state, so check your local rules.

Connect the app over WiFi, open the list of locked event files or regular clips, tap the clip you want, then choose download. You can then share it from your phone.
